Ormiston’s love for science was present from boyhood, as a young boy, post depression. He constructed a science laboratory in the basement of the family home in Dunedin, New Zealand. As a science lecturer and educator, Ormiston’s work was innovative and ahead of his time. His passion and creative drive saw him single handedly organise huge science exhibitions at teacher’s college, visited over three or so days by up to three thousand children from primary and secondary schools. He also was a presenter for TVNZ and lectured at the Planetarium. All to get children into science and to instill in them a litany of inquiry. Ormiston has had over fifty science textbooks published and sold all over the world. |
