Based on the popular two-book series of the same name, this CD provides opportunities for students to interact with fascinating and always topical Antarctic region, from both a historical and contemporary perspective. Much of this interactive CD concerns people and how they dealt with (and continue to deal with) the harsh natural environment of Antarctica. The CD is packed with bright, colourful images, audio and visual features including video footage, interesting Antarctic facts and figures, and pop-up diagrams that can be used alongside the many student activities. Sections cover: Antarctica Geography; The Explorers; Marine Resources; Scientific Research; Mineral Resources; Tourism; and The Antarctica Treaty. All student work can be done on screen then printed off for marking or to keep as a record of work completed.
